It’s time: Equal access and opportunities for travellers with special needs

Travel With Special Needs enables the 1 in 5 Aussies who have a disability to explore the world, just like everyone else.

Travel With Special Needs, the travel consultancy for travellers of all abilities, today announces its expansion into New Zealand with services going live from the end of January 2019.

Since launch in July, the business has grown at a rapid rate, being selected as the exclusive travel consultancy for two national disability conferences and booking over 50 individual travellers with special needs on holidays.

“Accessible tourism currently represents $10.8 billion to the Australian economy – surpassing the Chinese inbound market of $10.4 billion, but for some reason the industry just hasn’t been as supportive as it should be*,” said Julie Jones, co-founder, Travel With Special Needs. “Our business is focused squarely on ensuring that the 20% of the Australian population who classify as having a disability are able to find relevant travel experiences whether that’s close to home or overseas.”

“We are thrilled to be delivering a service to this under-represented segment of the travel industry,” said Janeece Keller, CEO, Bound Round. “It’s fantastically rewarding to be offering equal access and opportunities to travellers with special needs considerations and their families, and making travel possible for people of all abilities.”

Travel With Special Needs shares special rates and travel offers for tours and packages designed for guests with various abilities and their travelling companions. These handpicked offers have been reviewed and approved by a certified accessible travel consultant for appropriateness and value.

In her role as CEO of Bound Round, parent company of Family Travel, Janeece has also formalised a content strategy to assist in the mainstreaming of information regarding families travelling with additional needs. Each print edition of Family Travel magazine features dedicated inclusive and accessible travel ideas, tips and reviews, with this content being shared on the digital platform
